How To Choose Speakers For Your Car Audio

Most people actually DO care about the sound quality that comes out of their speakers and their speaker system, so if you want to find the best car audio for your car it's best that you try to follow some really simple guidelines to help you out along the way. First off, it's important that when shopping for speakers that you know what quality and voltage they are. If you aren't sure then you need to ask someone from the store because different voltage aspects are going to give out/off different sounds.

Also, if you’re into a lot of gimmickry, it's also important that you take a look at the various options and components for not only your car audio, but your car in general - each piece is ultimately going to personify your style. So look at things like bass (if that's important to you), being able to choose various sounds like classical, rock, country, rap, etc. Also, choose from mobile video options (watch videos in the car!) and neon lighting with is just an after affect. It's all about "show" rather than having any real function to your car besides making it look cool!

Lastly, it's important that you stick to your budget. If you can afford to do so, and find a system that is a little above what your budget is, maybe it's a good idea to spring for it this one time, especially if the speakers are of good quality! A lot of blogs such as ours will have a lot of information about the speakers we have in stock as well as various reviews and information about the products, so you really should be able to find THE perfect set or system for your radio.

Am I Allowed To Have Neon Lighting On My Car?

When it comes to certain things you might place on your car, some states do have laws. For example, in some states you cannot have tinted windows. Whereas in other states you can have tinted windows, such as in Florida, but the tint has to have a certain clarity. While we might think these laws are dumb, they are actually put in to use for a good reason. When it comes to neon lighting you also will need to look up the laws in your specific state. I know in my hometown of Pittsburgh PA, this is illegal.

You can still place them on your car, you simply cannot drive with them on. In this case, neon lighting is mainly for show. I know we have one town called Mt. Washington up at the Look Out, and if you go there at night on a Friday or Saturday you will see ten cars lined up all parked, with their neon lights on! It’s pretty cool to see and to have on your car. Just make sure you follow the laws! Other more conventional items such as car audio and mobile video may also pertain to certain laws in your city or state too.

For instance, for something like mobile video, you may only be allowed to have these screens in the backseat rather than the dashboard. Or with something like car audio, you might not be allowed to raise your volume on your system panel to a certain level. It's always best to just follow the laws where applicable! And it’s always best to get your car accessorized at www.PyleAudio.com!

Dukes of Hazzard Horn? Here are the Best Car Audio Accessories and Products!

If you have a nice car, chances are you want to soup it up as much as you can. What are the basics though? And how much is too much when it comes to car-bling? In my opinion, too much of something is non-existent when it comes to your car. Well, I take that back. If you get a horn that toots the theme from The Dukes of Hazzard - then you have gone TOO far man! Other than that though - you have so many options in front of you, it's crazy to say that there is too much of something.

I mean you can choose from car audio options like XM radio, CD players, DVD players, speaker systems, sub-woofers and amplifiers. Then, you get into visual products and you have GPS and mobile video and blu-ray! You can actually watch TV in your car (but not while you drive…!) You can play video games and watch movies! Ah! You also have cosmetic options too (outside of the car) like racing stripes (major drool-age), neon lighting (all kinds of different colors like red, orange, yellow, green, blue), spoilers, rims, carbon fiber hoods.

Oh great, see what you did! The point is, it doesn't matter what car you have, or what options you want, you can go as crazy as you want to go - in fact I hope you do! Just try to ditch The Dukes of Hazzard idea, okay?!? Even if it's a General Lee replica!

Taking A Road Trip With Your Family? Kids Getting Antsy? Take A Look At this Mobile Video Package!

This is one of the newer options that you can get put in your car - it's an actual "TV" screen. It's not huge by any means, but it can be used into coaxing your kids to stay quiet when you are going on road trips! I have two of these for my boys, they sit in both of the front seats headrests. They both can watch whatever movies or shows they want, and when they get a little older I'm thinking about adding some video game consoles to the seats as well. Should be cool. This doesn't by any means mean you should stick your kids with the TV Nanny.

But if you have a lot of "are we there yet" questions going on every 5 minutes, this can be an awesome way to keep the kids busy. Besides this isn't a "get out of my hair" thing. This is more of a "need to concentrate" thing. Now you can concentrate on the road instead of screaming in the rear view mirror! Even if you don't have kids, you can use car audio options such as mobile video for your car - you can even place one in your dash which would be super cool - just make sure you only "watch it" when it's the proper time!

Once your kids grow up you could also consider adding even more car options to your "cool mobile video" as well. One of the things I always thought looked awesome on a car was the neon lighting under the car!

Taking A Road Trip? Take A Look At These Car Audio Accessories!

Ah I love road trips! Destination... anywhere! Sometimes it's just nice to get away from everyday life, roll down the windows or take the top down, and just drive. Along with the sensation and excitement you get from road trips though, you absolutely have to have some tunes for the road! Some of the best music (depending on who is in the car with you) is stuff like Born to be wild by Steppenwolf, Highway to Hell by AC/DC, Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf, and Tom Petty’s Free Fallin'.

Yea I like the old tunes what can I say! Free Fallin' totally gets me going! Hopefully you or your road trip buddy has a nice car audio system for the trip though! Nothing sucks worse in my opinion than a crappy system - one that sounds dull or "vibrates". Yuck! Another cool thing to have in the car are these mobile video "televisions" they have in cars nowadays. These are actual screen that you can place in the dash or the headrest of your car - your passenger can watch TV, play video games, or watch movies.

Now THAT is the life! One of my favorite "souped" up options on a hot car (not a hatchback kids!) is neon lighting on the undercarriage of a car. Sweet! A car is a car is a car. But add in some nifty and really cool accessories and you have got a machine worth showing off! So get your show on the road and visit www.PyleAudio.com!

Cell Phone while driving? Sure. Just get a car Bluetooth cellphone system!

The use of cell phones while driving is one of the hottest topics on the daily agenda almost everywhere. Everybody knows it’s dangerous as hell, but nobody really cares enough to do anything about it. Many states are yet to ban the use of cell phone while driving (not to mention texting while driving which is far beyond my understanding…) and many traffic accidents happen because of careless drivers who try to maneuver between cell phone gossiping to actually driving on the car.

Did you know that in India you get 6 months in jail for texting to your BFF while you drive? Taylor Swift had a great SNL skit this week about the dangers of driving and… well… take a look:

Anyway, if you really must talk on the phone while you drive, you might want to visit www.PyleAudio.com and check out our extensive line of hands-free car Bluetooth cellphone systems!

I Want To Upgrade My Car Audio - What Should I Be Looking For?

When it comes time for you to (finally) upgrade your car audio and or media options, there are a few things you will want to make sure you take a look at. For the most part, when you are ready to upgrade your system you will probably be paying a pretty penny to do so. But this is okay! I always believe in the "you get what you pay for" saying, and in this case it really hits home! If you buy a cheap $45 system, chances are it's not going to sound very good at all! It probably won't last for very long either.

Cheap systems like this oftentimes get their speakers blown out in a few tries! Save your money and buy the real deal baby! But if you buy a $400 system it's going to not only look "pretty" but sound pretty as well! You should know that car audio doesn't just include the audio system and two speakers, it's oh so much more than that.

A few of the things you should be looking for in order to find the best system for your car are things like speakers with full range, car sub-woofers, satellite radio, blue-tooth, fold out screens or mobile video options, iPod receivers or adapters, component speakers, quality amplifiers, and other "options" as well. Of course you don't have to get ALL of these products, but if you are going to be upgrading your car audio, these are a few items you should be looking for when choosing a quality system!

Rear View Camera. When you're in a tight spot...

I used to be against this whole advanced technology car craze. For example, I never wanted to get a GPS navigator. I just love to use maps and find my own directions. Well, I’m sure you guys are thinking now that I’m the typical man who just won’t take directions from anybody… But no! I think it’s more exciting to find your own directions and even getting lost once in a while is fine with me. It’s actually fun!

Anyway… the problem starts when you find yourself more lost than found. So I agreed to install a GPS and actually, I quite like it. I don’t use it all the time. I never use it on a road trip. But when there’s a meeting somewhere and you just don’t have the time to start Google Map your address – the GPS works like magic.

So the next thing I agreed to was getting a rear view camera installed. As much as I like driving and maneuvering, I know that I’m not 18 anymore and the system really helps me to get out of tight corners and especially when vision is limited. Hey, and there are kids in the car! I’ll do anything possible to keep them extra safe. And the night vision... I mean, wow! It really helps out. I love it.

Check out Pyle.com for great LCD Monitors and Night Vision Rear View Camera. You won't be sorry.

Do you need a Digital Amplifier for your Car Stereo System?

It is a common misconception that audio digital amplifiers make your existing stereo system louder. In fact, amplifiers (both digital and analog) do not impact the volume of your system, but instead improve the clarity and richness of the sound your system produces. If you want to boost the volume power of your car audio system, a wiser choice would be to invest in some new speakers.

But for those of you who won’t settle for anything less than professional-grade sound quality coming out of your car stereo a digital amplifier can make all the difference in the world.

If you want to add greater “detail” or more bass to your music then a car digital amplifier is the way to go. The most comprehensive auto digital amplifiers feature more than one channel in order to handle a number of different audio output types. Multichannel digital amplifiers for the car allow you to enjoy greater sound on a variety of different music types, as they are built to enhance bass, treble and other aspects of the music.

As with all car audio accessories, it is important to do your homework before making a purchase. This is the best way to know if a digital amplifier will meet your needs and work properly within the current stereo system.

Your Car Stereo System and the Law

In recent years, there has been a significant rise in the number of laws that regulate the use of car stereo systems. These laws were designed to help maintain the public peace, but can often cause quite a bit of “noise” for those who get ticketed for not following the rules.

Any law concerning car stereos was likely started at the grass roots level, by neighborhood residents who grew tired of hearing thumping bass running up and down their block at all hours of the night. These residents approached their local government officials who then put laws into place that penalize those who enjoy “cruising” with loud music.

If you’re going to be riding around town showing off your new car audio system, here are some tips to help you stay on the right side of the law.
  • Keep the volume on your car stereo low when driving through residential areas. Show respect for the people who live there.
  • Keep your windows rolled up – especially when playing music that has a strong bass line. Closed windows will help trap a good amount of the bass sound inside your car.
  • Read up on local laws about noise and car stereo music. Some of these laws can actually be pretty tough – potentially costing you your driver’s license or significant fines.
  • Don’t draw attention to yourself by playing music with offensive lyrics loudly. This is one of the fastest ways to draw the attention (and ire) of local police.

How to choose a car stereo system? Part II

When buying a car stereo system, many buyers focus on the speakers but fail to realize the importance of a head unit. The head unit, or the receiver, should feature large buttons for easy control while driving and have a clear, bright display. When choosing a head unit, ask yourself whether you need a CD changer, or maybe a satellite radio? Do you need the system to read MP3 CDs or just connect to your iPod? These questions can help you focus on the right system that fits your needs and even save you some money.

After the head unit comes the amplifier. If you are planning to get a big set of speakers, you should get a powerful amplifier that will eliminate distortion. Weak amplifiers can damage the speakers, so don’t settle on a cheap model or else you’ll burn the system.

When choosing the speakers, the first thing to check is the size of your car’s speaker mounting units. Just measure the diameter of your current speakers in the front and back of your car and remember to measure both the width of the speakers and the mounting depth. Don’t try to force big speakers into a small mount because size doesn’t have anything to do with sound quality.

Got Kids? Get Headset Monitors!

My wife and I, we just love driving. We never fly anywhere, we just drive. Even when there are thousands of miles to our destination. We love the open road. When it was just the two of us, we used to pop in a mix CD and just drive for hours. But with kids… it’s not that they don’t like the ride but you know children, they need constant entertainment.

So we play games, and sing and talk, but there’s always that “Mom! He hit me?” or the inevitable “are we there yet.” So we thought about giving up the whole driving idea and just hop on a flight next time we take a family vacation. But then I realized that as much as we try to make the kids read and play out – the thing they love most is watching TV. Ye! They can watch their favorite shows or DVDs for hours and you know what, we have hours.

I bought a set of 10.2” headrest monitors from Pyle Audio and installed them in no time. The kids can’t be happier and we found that old mix CD of ours and had a wonderful ride from New York all the way down to Disney World.

How to choose a car stereo system?

Many customers often wonder how to choose a car stereo system but don't realize that the answer is actually inside them.

Before even considering budget and sound quality, when you plan to buy a stereo system for your car, you should really think about your favorite radio stations and listening habits.

You see, there are numerous models, amplifiers and speakers but everything starts with your musical preferences.

For instance, if you just listen to the news or talk radio, you might even want to stick to your car manufacturer system. Yes, we won’t make any money out of you, unless your car is really old and your speakers start screeching, then you might want to consider a new set of basic speakers.

If you are a Jazz Man or the Classical Type, sometimes you can even keep your original speakers and just add some tweaks here and there. Coltrane just loves a pair of good midrange units and your Schumann will sound wonderful with a new set of tweeters.

The best advice we can give you is to bring you iPod or come along with a CD of your favorite music and listen to your tunes on different types of speakers. This is a safe way to find the right speakers that meet your expectations and standards.

When you make your decision, remember that Pyle Audio has the gear to transform your vehicle into a screaming entertainment hub on wheels. Visit www.PyleAudio.com and choose from our extensive array of models with breakthrough features and performance. Your ears and eyes will thank you!
